Giphy and LINE jointly launch a new sticker pack for more animated madness

Giphy and LINE jointly launch a new sticker pack for more animated madness

Giphy, the GIF search engine, and LINE, the social networking messaging company behind all those wacky animations, have jointly launched a pack of 24 brand new stickers.

In this collaboration, Giphy worked with four of its artists — Csada Klement, Nelson Diaz, Julian Glander and Daniella Urdinlaiz — to create this social networking artwork.

The new pack is the most recent collaboration between Giphy and LINE, stemming from what both companies consider an organic relationship.

“LINE and Giphy have a lot in common in terms of language communication — and both companies are working toward enhancing expressive communication,” said Adam Leibsohn, Giphy COO. “LINE has built a business of Stickers, and Giphy sees GIFs as the next iteration of stickers — a match made in heaven.”

Last fall, Giphy announced that it had augmented its searchable library of GIF animations with a new sticker API. This gave developers an expanded library of GIFs with transparent backgrounds — in other words, stickers — to use with their apps and sites. This free API updates automatically to serve Giphy’s latest creations.

For both companies, GIFs and stickers bring lighthearted creativity to the masses, and it’s not the first collaboration or the last. Previously, Giphy had teamed up with LINE and ADHD to launch the Pizza Pals sticker set. It’s also now releasing the Internet Dictionary: Volume 1. “They’ll join their other sticker friends in the Giphy Sticker API soon,” Leibsohn said.

Over time, Giphy has put together its own network of artists and partnerships with GIF specialists ADHD Studio and Frederator among others, to augment and expand its library.

Giphy also just joined a select group of apps chosen by Facebook to build out its new Messenger platform.
