Visual Supply Company (aka VSCO), the Oakland California outfit behind photography/art apps and plug-ins such as VSCO Cam, VSCO Film, VSCO Grid, VSCO Journal and VSCO Keys, has acquired Artifact Uprising, a Denver company that specializes in transforming digital images into photo-based books, prints and gifts.

Signature Artifact Uprising products, including its own iPhone photo creation app, feature high-quality photo books whose pages are printed on 100 percent recycled paper and a collection of handcrafted wood items from mountain beetle pine.

‚ÄúOver the past two years, VSCO and Artifact Uprising have collaborated on various book projects, cultivating a friendship and mutual vision for redefining how people create, discover, and connect. The decision to join forces was natural, even obvious,‚ÄĚ according to a statement on VSCO‚Äôs blog announcement.

The deal, in addition to helping Artifact Uprising reach its full potential, ‚Äúwill accelerate innovation and refine the processes and experiences that bring your photos to permanence,‚ÄĚ the company wrote on its own blog.
