Aviary has let loose a major new update of its free mobile photo editing app for iOS, which is popular both as a standalone image editing tool and as an SDK powering other image editors.
Some of the headlining new features include a new suite of—yup, that’s right—selfie tools, undo-redo, and an improved one-touch enhancement.
So. Much. Tech.
Some of the biggest names in tech are coming to TNW Conference in Amsterdam this May.
New selfie tools feature a new Blemish tool, letting you remove imperfections in your self portrait with a tap. The Blur tool lets you mask lines and wrinkles and subtly soften edges. The Red Eye tool has been overhauled for processing harshly lit scenes.
The new version also offers a new range of filters, frames, and stickers in the Supply Shop. But if a simple enhance is all you need, Aviary has overhauled the Enhance tool to include swift one-tap photo editing for Food, Nightlife, Nature and Portrait pictures. The app’s Hi-Def option is still around for overall improvement.
In delivering an often requested user improvement, the new version lets you undo or redo any effect by swiping from left or right on your photo.
Aviary always made it easy to share photos to your social networks, but now you can now tag your Facebook friends in a picture. You can also share to WhatsApp, WeHeartIt, Tumblr, Line and more if you’ve already got those apps installed on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. Just tap More on the Share Screen to access those services.
These updates are for iOS only. The developers in Aviary’s partner network will get these features when they are added to the SDK—which will be soon, but not automatic with this release, the company says.
Generally, Aviary releases new features to the iOS app first, which gives developers a chance to see what’s coming, before they go to the SDK. These features will come to Android soon as well.
