If you’ve made a new year’s resolution to get in shape, you might find Google Calendar handy, thanks to its latest update.
Last April, the company added a Goals feature, which allowed users to set targets like ‘Hit the gym thrice a week’ or ‘Practice guitar for 20 minutes a day’. It’s clever enough to reschedule your sessions if you have other appointments at the same time.
“The most awesome stage”
Last year, Facebook's VP of Design thought the TNW Conference main stage was the best she'd ever been on.
Now, the service is integrating with Google Fit and Apple Health, so it can follow your fitness activity from your phone and track your progress within the app. Once it’s connected to either of them from your phone (and by extension, to your fitness app of choice), it’ll automatically mark your goals as ‘done’ when you complete your scheduled workouts.
There’s also a new visual performance tracker to show you how far along you are with each of your goals. Plus, Calendar will get even better at rescheduling your goal times by monitoring when you actually begin exercising, based on your fitness activity. With that, the app should be able to help you find the best times to work out without interrupting your schedule.
