Flatbook for Chrome cleans up Facebook’s messy desktop interface

Flatbook for Chrome cleans up Facebook’s messy desktop interface

If you’re tired of all the ads and clutter in Facebook’s desktop interface, you’ll want to check out Flatbook for Chrome. The free extension does wonders for the way the site looks and makes it a whole easier to browse and kill time with.

For starters, it hides all ads and useless bits like the ‘Your Games’ and ‘Recommended Games’ sections in the right sidebar. It also changes up the UI with larger colorful icons on the left to help you easily hop over to things like your photos, friend list and more, no matter how far you’ve scrolled through your news feed.

You can hide the right sidebar for a cleaner look. Plus, the ‘Trending’ section is swapped out for a feed that you can customize to deliver content categorized into topics like science, celebrities and news.

Although it takes a few minutes to get used to, Flatbook certainly makes for a more pleasant browsing experience – and in case you don’t like it, you can simply flick a switch at the top of the screen to return to the original interface.

Get the extension from the Chrome Web Store to try it out.
