Firefox for iOS is now available worldwide

Mozilla’s Firefox browser is now available worldwide for iOS devices, after being previewed in New Zealand in September.

The free browser lets you sync your bookmarks, history and open tabs across devices. It also includes a private browsing mode and features visual tabs that make it easy to find sites you’ve visited in the past.

Of course, since it’s on Apple’s turf, Firefox has to play by the company’s rules and so runs the WebKit rendering engine to load pages instead of its own Gecko engine. WebKit powers Safari and Google Chrome and is the only engine allowed on iOS.

Given that Firefox doesn’t offer very many unique features over other options on iOS, it’s hard to recommend unless it’s your browser of choice on your other devices and you want to keep your activity synced.
