Fitbit acquires FitStar’s personal training platform to give users a more complete look at their health

Fitbit acquires FitStar’s personal training platform to give users a more complete look at their health

Fitbit today confirmed its rumored acquisition of FitStar’s fitness training and yoga platform for an undisclosed sum.

The company said in a blog post that the purchase will allow FitStar members to gain deeper insight into their overall health by incorporating their personal workouts or yoga practice. Users will also soon be able to log into FitStar accounts with their existing Fitbit login.

The move is a logical extension for Fitbit – with such a crowded fitness platform market, it makes sense that it would want to extend its software ambitions. And for consumers, a more complete picture of overall health is a compelling reason for new users to delve into Fitbit’s hardware too.
