Admitting you need therapy is the easy part – finding a therapist whom you can easily access, afford and feel comfortable with is the problem. Last month, we checked out Talkspace, an app that provides 24/7 therapy service from licensed psychologists via text. Today, the app has officially launched on Android.
Talkspace works by letting you chat with a therapist starting at $25 a week. The process is designed to be as budget-friendly as possible while providing more anonymity and discreetness. You can also set up a 4-digit privacy code before accessing the chats so friends can’t snoop in on your personal business.
Although Talkspace may not necessarily match the effectiveness of a traditional therapy session (body movements and tone of voice can both contribute to a more rounded psychological assessment), it’s an affordable way to get started with seeking help while connecting medical professionals to new clients.
