Founded by veterans of Zendesk and VMWare, Accompli developed apps for iOS and Android which prioritize your most important emails. It could turn into Microsoft’s take on Google’s Inbox effort. Like other apps including Mailbox, it allows you to schedule emails you want to return to later.
The Acompli app allows you to manage your calendar and attach files from Google Drive, Dropbox and Microsoft’s OneDrive. It also includes predictive search and purports to determine the most important people who email you.
Interestingly, Microsoft Exchange and Office 365 were first on Acompli’s list of supported accounts before the acquisition was announced and it also works with Microsoft’s Outlook.com and Hotmail services. Other supported services include Google Apps, Gmail, iCloud and Yahoo.
Microsoft says the Acompli apps will now be incorporated into work in progress from the Outlook team. Acompli’s CEO, Javier Soltero, said in a blog post that the company’s apps will continue to support non-Microsoft services.
