The Who embraces Oculus Rift as it (rock and) rolls out a new immersive 3D app

As the Facebook-owned Oculus Rift edges closer towards a consumer launch, rock legends The Who are preparing to get involved in the virtual reality revolution with the launch of a new 3D immersive app.

Though a version of the app is coming to Oculus Rift soon, for now you will have to make do with the Android and iOS versions which are built on key moments and landmarks from the band’s 5-decade-long career. And, of course, you can also buy ‘The Who Hits 50’ album, a compilation launched a few weeks back.

The app is intended to be a living, breathing entity too – future updates include “exclusive 50th anniversary tour access” and will “allow for a dynamic relationship with The Who that has never been provided before.”

The Oculus Rift version will launch early in the new year to mark the band’s world tour.
