Spotify’s iOS app gets an equalizer to give you more control over your music

Spotify’s iOS app gets an equalizer to give you more control over your music

Spotify has updated its iOS app with an equalizer feature that offers 22 audio presets, including electronic, hip-hop, acoustic and classical among other options. The music streaming service is also letting users manually define their own equalizer settings within the app.

The update is still rolling out to all iOS users today, but once you have it, you can access the feature under ‘Playback’ in settings.

Spotify’s vice president of product, Sten Garmark, says the equalizer has been one of its most requested features on iOS — and there’s no surprise there as it lets users have more control over their music by tailoring the frequency of various audio signals. Another tweak of significance in Spotify’s latest iOS app update: the ‘Discover’ feature has been moved into the ‘Browse’ tab.

As news of Spotify finally landing in Canada surfaced earlier this month, its iOS app changelog also notes that the music streaming is only available in the country with an invitation, and you have to join the queue within the app before you can sign up.
