If you find typing too much of a hassle, Yelp has the solution for you: emoji. The US-based business review site has just launched the ability to let you search for local businesses on its platform using emoji — the small, cartoon-like figures most often used when typing on a mobile device.

Yelp’s move probably speaks to the fact that its users are increasingly accessing its site via mobile  — and it is seeking ways to make it more convenient for them.

For proof of the popularity of emoji, Twitter has also just started showing emoji characters on its main Twitter.com website.
