Pond5, the online repository for royalty-free stock media, has partnered with Adobe to officially launch a plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro that provides access to stock videos, music and sound effects directly within Adobe’s CS6 and Creative Cloud (CC) software.

The release follows the beta availability of the tool, which has been knocking around since back in 2012. Now deemed ready for the prime-time, the plugin allows video editors to add watermarked, lo-res placeholders (‘comps’) into their projects for editing. With a single press, the hi-res files can then be purchased, downloaded, and will automatically replace the lo-res previews.

Any visual effects applied to files in their lo-res state will be maintained when changed into hi-res versions and users can search for specific footage using filters based on price, number of downloads and the number of page views. Purchases can be made using a credit card (Mastercard, Visa, Amex), Paypal, or with Pond5 prepaid credits. A Pond5 spokesperson told TNW that “students and prosumers” will have access to 50 free hi-res stock media files, valued at more than $1,000, directly through the plugin.
