Photo messaging service Snapchat has updated its Android and iOS apps to allow users to opt-out of linking their phone number with their username.
The decision, while it might seem minor, is an important one as it forms part of the service’s Find Friends functionality, which was partly to blame for leaked data obtained by hackers at the end of last year.
In the announcement, made today, the company also took the opportunity to apologize for the breach. Better late than never.
