Any.do’s Cal smart calendar app lands on Android

Any.do on Wednesday launched the Android version of its smart calendar app, expanding its reach to its second major mobile operating platform. The company states that it’s the next step in its larger plan to “make the kinds of apps people truly love to use.”

While it contains many of the same features as its iOS counterpart, Cal for Android also includes things that are specific to Google’s operating system such as home screen widgets, landscape mode, tighter Any.do integration, and more.

An offshoot of productivity tool Any.do, Cal is a smart calendar that learns from your appointments and schedules to help get things done in a “simple, playful, harmonious way”. It competes alongside the likes of Tempo, DigiCal, Pocket Informant, and others.

Here’s a list of the new features you’ll only find on Cal for Android:

  • Android Widget: Display an overview of your day on your home screen.
  • Landscape mode: Claimed to be one of the most requested features, tilting the phone will display a more open view of the calendar.
  • Real-time syncing: The app integrates with your favorite calendar and email service.
  • Better Any.do integration: The company says that Android users can place task lists from their Any.do app right into Cal, making a
