The apps are getting redesigned entirely as Nest updates them to work better at controlling both its Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide detectors – which launched just last month — and its thermostat from one place.
You’ll get to switch between your away and home status via a button on the app now instead of having to tilt your phone into landscape mode, and you’ll be able to see information including the temperature you’ve set on the Nest Thermostat, as well as an icon representing all the Nest Protects in your home.
Software updates are automatic, so users don’t have to take any action.
