Silent Circle launches extra secure Silent Text encryption app for Android

Communication encryption company Silent Circle has released a version of its text message privacy app Silent Text for Android.

F**k it, we'll do it live!

Our biggest ever edition of TNW Conference is fast approaching! Join 10,000 tech leaders this May in Amsterdam.

The app allows Silent Circle subscribers (just under $10 per month) to route encrypted calls, messages and attachments through their Android devices without logging the usual metadata associated with those communications. Attachments can be up to 100MB in size and of any file type.

The app will no doubt appeal to people concerned by recent stories about the NSA and the privacy of their communications and contains other features like an auto self-destruct option to erase messages after a certain amount of time. Silent Circle says even it doesn’t have the keys to access (and decrypt) your messages, even if it wanted to.

Just last month, Silent Circle closed down its email service as it said it could not guarantee the privacy of its members.
