Aereo plans to bring its Internet-based TV service to Android in September

Aereo will launch its Internet-based television service on Android devices in September, according to an International Business Times interview with CEO Chet Kanojia, though an exact date has not been confirmed yet.

This would expand its reach to even more viewers in the US, as the Android operating system has a larger market share than Apple’s iOS. Aereo had initially hoped to launch its Android app late last summer.

Aereo’s controversial set-up, which uses a small army of tiny antennas to pick up a traditional TV broadcast signal and pipe the content to each user over the Internet, is available to subscribers in New York City, Boston and Atlanta, and will next launch in MiamiHoustonDallas and Chicago throughout the whole month of September .
