Google Maps for iOS and Android now displays Waze alerts, while Street View lands in Waze Map Editor

Google’s acquisition of community-based mapping, traffic and navigation app Waze is finally starting to bear some fruit, as the two begin sharing their respective features for the first time.

The Google Maps app for iOS and Android will now include real-time incident reports submitted by Waze users, including road closures, construction work and accidents, in these countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Switzerland, UK and the US.

Likewise, the Waze app for Android and iOS is being updated with Google Search, giving users the ability to quickly find relevant information while on the move. The Waze Map Editor now includes Google Street View and satellite imagery too, which should help to improve the accuracy of the platform’s maps moving forward.
