Forget Google Maps, Crowsflight for iOS is the only navigation app you’ll ever need. Well, in some situations, at least.

Crowsflight is an incredibly simple app that ‘points’ you in the right direction, using GPS location data and a compass.

Given that it uses GPS, once you’ve loaded your planned destination you don’t need an Internet connection to find your way from A to B, which will work well if you’re in a foreign land and relying on your hotel’s WiFi. Simply pre-load a bunch of destinations, and go a-wanderin’.

In the main view, you can drop a marker at your current position to get the ball rolling, while the list view lets you search for a new destination by address or place name. You can also use latitude/longitude coordinates to carry out a search.

While the core raison d’être of Crowsflight is simply to ‘direct’ you to your destination without ogling maps, there is a map view that displays your saved locations and essentially show what’s around you. You can drag-and-drop pins to adjust your destinations.

It’s really is a neat little app and brings a fresh twist to the type of navigation apps you’ll no doubt be accustomed to. If you like wandering cities from landmark-to-landmark, well, Crowsflight is certainly worth your time.

The app’s free to download now, but it will limit you to just five saved locations. If you want to unlock more, you’ll have to cough up $0.99 via an in-app purchase.
