Jabberly launches a location-based iPhone app to better connect you to the local community

Finding current real-time information about your favorite merchant, restaurant, or attraction can be difficult at times. Jabberly has set out to help solve that problem and has launched an iOS app that allows people to use their mobile devices to ask questions about a particular location and get answers quickly from those with boots on the ground, no matter where they are around the country.

noname (1)Founded in 2011 by serial entrepreneur Bobby Marhamat and Ivan Turkovic, Jabberly isn’t just another location-based service like what you would get with Blipboard, Foursquare, or even something like Yelp. It believes that it can be used as a place where consumers who are social media savvy can discuss and share inside information about people and places that they patronize frequently and in real life.

No, this isn’t a service where you can talk about the service given by Microsoft, but it can be useful if you’re at one of the software company’s physical stores.

If you’ve got the late night munchies, you can plug in to find out which restaurants or food trucks have the shortest lines, so you can sate yourself the fastest!

Jabberly isn’t a networking service. It says that there are three “key technological features” that make it stand out from anyone else: instant feedback, peer-to-peer and geosynchronous locating technology, and a broader and deeper social web tie-in.

Additionally, it includes a feature it calls jabberCRED that can be earned by providing insider tips and recommendations. These points can be used as virtual currency to receive real money vouchers used at any of their favorite merchants.

The service is available in 50 markets in the United States, but the company says that its biggest concentration will be in the San Francisco market at the time of its launch. Jabberly tells us that it intends to monetize its product in several ways, of which one is through hyperlocal offers provided by merchants when they join and also paying a small monthly subscription fee to be a premium business. Other ways include receiving a percentage of each offer redemption and through planned in real life events with their users.

Other similar services people might be familiar with include Localmind.

Jabberly is available for iPhone now, but an Android version will be available soon.
