Foursquare and Snoball let you help those affected by Sandy automatically at every check-in

Foursquare is promoting a nice app partnership with charity facilitation service Snoball that will allow you to donate an amount to the charity of your choice automatically every time you check into a location. This will help Foursquare users contribute to organizations like the American Red Cross.

In order to demonstrate how Foursquare check-ins migrated throughout SuperStorm Sandy’s journey through New York City. The various checkins ebb and flow from day to night, but also move up town when the power outage hits and return to lower Manhattan as it is restored:

Here’s how to set up Snoball and Foursquare:

  • Connect the Snoball app to your Foursquare account.
  • Set it up so that, every time you check in to a type of place (for instance, to a restaurant), it will donate a certain amount (like one dollar) to the charity of your choice (like the American Red Cross).
