Podio brings its collaboration software goodness to the iPad

Podio brings its collaboration software goodness to the iPad

Podio, the Danish online collaboration tools maker that was recently acquired by Citrix for about $53 million, is today debuting an iPad app.

Podio says it didn’t simply want to ‘downscale its website’ or ‘upscale its iPhone app’ and set out to build a tablet app from scratch and focus on rapid navigation and simple browsing.

Rather than getting everyday work done in any type of work environment using a patchwork of spreadsheets, documents and email, Podio basically aims to help clients connect collaboration and business processes through Workspaces and “Apps” instead.

Podio Apps can be found in the Podio App Market (700 apps today) and customized for any type of work using the company’s drag-and-drop Podio AppBuilder, a tool that essentially enables anyone to create custom apps for their work.

Podio says it has already empowered users to create more than 65,000 of their own ‘Podio apps’, ranging from tools for project management, sales leads, product development, recruiting, CRM and more.

The new iPad app also comes with ‘Social Activity Streams’, which helps team members receive progress updates in real-time with status messages, files and links.

The Citrix-owned company says more than 40,000 organizations from 170 countries currently rely on its collaborative work platform.
