Free booze and a one night stand? Now there’s an app for wedding crashing

Free booze and a one night stand? Now there’s an app for wedding crashing

Fact: Last summer, inspired by the 2005 hit Wedding Crashers with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, I crashed my first wedding. I was dressed up for a summer’s night out when I stumbled by a nearby celebration in Brooklyn. Emboldened by a desire for free champagne, I strolled in with a friend and hung out by the bar for about 45 minutes. I even ran into an old colleague!

It being 2012, now there’s an app for that. Crash Corsage helps you crash any wedding, anywhere, anytime by collecting data from the open directories of wedding website providers and creating filtered lists of nearby festivities. The app gives you all the important information such as what you need to wear, how the couple met, location of their party, and everything else you might need to down a bottle of free champagne and try to score with somebody’s hot cousin. The app is even gamified- you can gain points for various wedding related triumphs like “coital encounters with guests”.

While newly engaged couples and fathers-of-the-brides might not appreciate Crash Corsage, lecherous pranksters and spontaneous daredevils are sure to be delighted. The app is the brainchild of Eric Schlakman, an advertising creative director at R/GA with a profound love of wedding cake.
