VW’s new augmented reality app lets Norwegians “test drive” its ads

Volkswagen has released an innovative iPhone app: the VW Test Drive a Print AD! Augmented reality app lets users “test drive” across VW’s latest Norwegian print ads. While the app is only available in the Norwegian Apple store for now, you can also try it out on their site.

The following video is beautiful featuring the song Paper Aeroplane by Julia Stone. While the app isn’t exactly useful- it’s an engaging and fun marketing campaign.

One of Volkswagens brand goals is to be a leader within new technology. But innovations can be difficult to explain in an ad. It must be experienced. Learned by doing. Showed – not told. So we created an app for the readers to download, and try out the VW innovations, using the print ad as a test road. In an ad that is an innovation in itself.
