TripAdvisor goes social. Plan your trip with help from your Facebook friends.

TripAdvisor is known and loved by many for being arguably the best travel planning site on the Internet.  When you book with TripAdvisor, the site takes user reviews into heavy consideration, and helps you to find hotels that people trust, as well as cheap flights and fantastic restaurants.

However, until now, that help has been limited to the database of information kept at TripAdvisor.  Just as TripAdvisor set the standard for how travel booking should work, it has again raised the bar with its Trip Friends feature.

Trip Friends will let you get advice from your Facebook friends while you’re planning your trip.  So you’ll find out if that 4-star hotel is really worth all 4 stars from someone that you know, instead of a random stranger.

We all know, though, that people love to make up stories as they go along.  With that in mind, TripAdvisor has a thing they call Cities I’ve Visitedℱ (CIV).  It’s not only part of TripAdvisor’s site, it’s also an integrated application in Facebook.  CIV sees over 5 million active monthly users, and will let you pull from their experiences as verified visitors of a city.

I’m a big fan of anything that makes life a little bit easier.  Removing guesswork?  That makes things easier.  Now, all you have to do is figure out which of your friends has good taste.
