Apple’s ‘AirPods’ could get bumped to January 2017 [Updated]

Apple’s ‘AirPods’ could get bumped to January 2017 [Updated]

Originally slated to launch in late October, Apple has again pushed the timetable for the launch of its wireless earbud, the ‘AirPod.’ For reasons unknown, the new timetable has Apple missing the holiday season completely, and instead opting for a January 2017 launch.

The AirPod is Apple’s premium headphone solution touted as the replacement to its corded predecessor. With a second delay, Apple now finds itself without a native solution to its flagship device; you know, the one it ‘courageously’ dropped the headphone jack on. It’s a conundrum, and it’s especially perplexing coming out of Cupertino. Apple is known for planning and perfecting the ecosystem accompanying its devices yet for the iPhone 7/7 Plus we’re left with third-party solutions and adapters.

If you’re bummed about the delay, it’s worth noting the headphones are drawing mixed reviews from those lucky enough to cop a pair. So, maybe a third-party solution isn’t such a bad thing.

Update: Citing sources familiar with the company’s plans, Apple Insider thinks Apple will hit its end of year target. According to one source, there is “no way these are getting pushed to January.”
