With every new iPhone comes a pair of headphones, neatly packaged in a white Apple-branded box that you end up throwing away or storing somewhere forgettable. Then, you put your headphones in your bag or pockets, and they turn into a knot that seems impossible to untangle, every damn time.
Of course, you could take an origami course and learn to fold your headphones back into that beautiful little case when you’re done with them. But who has time for that?
There’s an easier and more efficient way to deal with this though. I’ll take you through it step by step:
Step 1: that’s the original packaging the headphones come in. Open it up and inspect its contents.
Step 2: Gently pry the top part off from the base. Start at one corner, like in the photo above, and then move to the next one.
Step 3: You now have three separate components. Discard the middle one shown above; you don’t need it anymore.
Step 4: This is your new, genuine Apple headphone case.
Step 5: The easiest way to use it is to simply wind up your headphones and put them in the transparent top half, like this.
Now, put the two halves of the case together and you’re done. You’ll find that the case stays shut once you close it up, and it will always keep your headphones neatly organized. Free, easy and beautiful.
