Apple is making iOS 9 work better on iPad, adding multitasking

Apple announced at WWDC today that it’s making a number of improvements to the iPad, to make it easier to use under its new software iOS 9. The updated Quicktype keyboard allows you to drag with two fingers to move the selector around inside text.

It’s also finally adding multitasking. You can snap two apps together, side-by-side and use them both at the same time. They’re fully responsive and can be resized using a slider.

Developers that have used auto-layout in their apps will only need to make minimal changes to their app to get it up and running. Apple said that Twitter only spent a small amount of time to get it working.

A new mode will also allow you to watch videos in a picture-in-picture style view, so you can use other apps and still watch the video you had open.

Apple’s “slide-over” multitasking will work on the iPad Air 2 as well as the Mini 3.
