Say goodbye to Aperture as Apple reminds us of its impending demise

Say goodbye to Aperture as Apple reminds us of its impending demise

We knew this was coming. With iPhoto’s days clearly numbered, it was only a matter of time before Apple pulled us all aside and told us that its professional photo app, Aperture was being taken to a nice farm in the country where it could frolic with other totally-not-dead-just-retired apps.

On Apple’s Aperture product page, the company today placed the following message:

When Photos for OS X is available this spring, Aperture will no longer be available for purchase from the Mac App Store.

Apple told us back in June that this was going happen so today’s news is just a reminder that maybe you shouldn’t use your hard earned cash to buy the doomed application. Especially with its new app, Photos just around the corner.

If you are an Aperture user and you need the pro-level photo management that Photos won’t be able to offer, Adobe has information on how to migrate your library over to Lightroom.

Goodbye Aperture, we hardly knew you. Or we did and we decided to use Lightroom instead.
