Apple’s partnership with U2 is having an immediate effect, although perhaps not as might be hoped, after customers began noticing that the band’s latest album had been uploaded to their accounts automatically. Some of the younger Apple folks don’t even appear to know who the Irish band is — sigh.
The two heavyweights believe that their coming together can “transform the way music is listened to and viewed” — but the initial response seems to be confusion, judging on the reactions of many who have tweeted, and a post over at TechCrunch too.
so there’s some glitch that automatically downloads U2’s new album to your phone???? um thanks apple I guess??????,? pic.twitter.com/Arubxbl1wM

Other people are being more playful, including TNW’s own Owen Willams:
Hi @tim_cook my iPhone has a virus called “U2” how do I uninstall it?
— Owen Williams (@ow) September 11, 2014
Not to worry. If you’re not into the band and/or its latest offering, the album will disappear within a month. I’m sure there’s a lame Snapchat joke in there somewhere…
@jonrussell either way, if you don’t download it, it will go away after october 13 — Sébastien Page (@SebastienPage) September 11, 2014
