Apple’s Developer Center returns after 8-day outage due to security breach

After being down for more than a week due to an embarrassing security breach, Apple has brought its Developer Center back online.

While the main Developer Center pages for iOS, Mac and Safari are back, Apple is still gradually restoring service. Certain areas of the site, such as the forums, technical support and pre-release documentation remain offline.

Apple took the site down last Thursday, eventually notifying developers that it was overhauling its systems after an intrusion. Though Apple did its best to mitigate the effects of the outage by extending memberships, some developers still reported hitting snags in their work over the past week.

Earlier this week, Apple released a system status tool to help keep track of its progress. The company informed developers of its plans to bring the operation back in stages:

We plan to roll out our updated systems, starting with Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, Apple Developer Forums, Bug Reporter, pre-release developer libraries, and videos first. Next, we will restore software downloads, so that the latest betas of iOS 7, Xcode 5, and OS X Mavericks will once again be available to program members. We’ll then bring the remaining systems online.
