Apple TV could be carrying the HBO Go app sometime in mid-2013. According to Bloomberg, Apple is reportedly in talks with Time Warner about the potential deal, although nothing has been finalized yet.

Should an agreement be reached, it would add to Apple TV’s extensive lineup of services, including Netflix, HuluPlus, YouTube, and others. Users are already able to access thousands of high definition movies and TV shows from iTunes and with HBO Go, there are a lot more selections to choose from. The addition would also give Time Warner access to another video-delivery device — it’s already available on Roku and Xbox.

According to Bloomberg, HBO Go is only available to those who subscribe to the network through cable or satellite service and it would be the first app on Apple TV that requires “pay-TV authentication”.

Earlier this month, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that two million Apple TVs were sold during its fourth quarter, more than the company has ever sold. That figure is a faster rate of growth than either iPhone or iPad.
