In what appears to be error on behalf of its website team ahead of today’s iPhone launch event, Apple’s own search engine on its Apple.com website has confirmed that the new iPhone will in fact be called the ‘iPhone 5.’
As 9to5mac reports, a search query for ‘iPhone-5’ displays a website link to a future press release for the new device. The link doesn’t work at the time of writing but is almost certain to go live the minute Apple announces the new smartphone in San Francisco later today.
When Apple pushed out invitations for the event, the company emphasised the number when it included a notice that has a 12 displaying a shadow of a “5″. We speculated at the time whether the number meant that it will be called the iPhone 5 — even though it’s Apple’s sixth iPhone variant — but it has now been confirmed by the company itself.

But that isn’t it.
9to5mac was also able to find a similar release detailing the launch of a new iPod touch and iPod Nano. The links are still not live, but it seems Apple’s launch line-up has already been leaked by the company itself.
Apple will also release iTunes 11 today, according to yet another search.
