It’s been a good run, but the time has come to move on for SVP of Hardware Engineering Bob Mansfield. You’ve likely seen his face in videos about the MacBook Pro line, a device where his hand played a heavy role. The move puts a bit better light onto Mansfield’s $12.5 million stock cash-out earlier in the year.
The order of succession puts present VP of iPad Hardware Engineering Dan Riccio into Mansfield’s former position. According to CEO Tim Cook, the move makes internal sense:
“Dan has been one of Bob’s key lieutenants for a very long time and is very well respected within Apple and by the industry,” added Cook. “Our hardware engineering team is the best engineering team on earth and will not miss a beat during the transition.”
