Apple has sent out reminder emails to users who have yet to upgrade their MobileMe accounts to iCloud, according to Freakgeeks. The email was sent out early today and emphasizes that you get to keep your regular data and gain access to new iCloud features like Photo Stream, Backup and more with iOS 4 and OS X Lion.
This isn’t the first email of this kind that Apple has sent, there was an initial round of emails encouraging people to adopt iCloud even before iOS 5 was released and then another round afterwords. But this campaign seems to be aimed at those users dragging their feet in upgrading as the deadline of June 30th, 2012 approaches.
Many users have already adopted iCloud. At a recent investor conference Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that the data syncing service now has over 100M users. Just last month, Cook said that the service had 85M users, making this a growth of 15M users in 21 days.
Cook also reiterated that iCloud was a ‘long-game’ strategy that Apple would continue to pursue over many years. He said that it wasn’t just a product, but a “strategy for the next decade” of Apple’s business. Cook mentioned that the way that iCloud took a household with multiple Macs or iDevices and simplified the interchange of information as the primary drive behind the introduction of iCloud.
