iCloud website now out of beta and available to all

iCloud website now out of beta and available to all

Apple has removed the ‘beta’ tag from the iCloud homepage and given the login page a bit of a makeover. It is now allowing all MobileMe users to transition their accounts to iCloud, but signing up for new accounts is still not available.

Apple announced during its ‘Let’s Talk iPhone’ event on Oct. 4 that iCloud will go live along with iOS 5 on Oct. 12, after having been in beta for iOS and Mac OS X developers since WWDC in June this year.

Although current MobileMe users can transition their accounts to iCloud right now, they will have to wait for a few hours for the launch of iOS 5 and a software update to Mac OS X Lion in order to use iCloud with their devices.

Update: As pointed out by several readers in the comments below, while it appears to be allowing all MobileMe users to transition to iCloud now, the process fails at the last step, so it seems that we have a little more of a wait ahead of us before we can get our mitts on iCloud. Thanks to everyone who posted about this.
