To do list apps have always been somewhat of a tech-fetish of mine. I’ve probably spent more time researching them that actually getting things. In fact, I’d say I’ve probably lost more tasks switching between various task management apps than I have completing them – some might consider that rather productive, those lost tasks can’t have been that important right?
Anyhow, after testing the breadth of apps out there, from the complex to the simple, it was Dropkick that eventually grabbed and held my attention, primarily due to its simplicity and instant over-the-air sync.
Dropkick is a task management app for the Mac and iPhone that, as you would expect, it lets you create to do lists and have the items on your list sync between devices instantaneously. Add or edit a task on your Mac and have it on your iPhone in seconds, and vice versa. Think of it as the SimpleNote of to do list apps. Once you have your list of to do’s, you can drag and drop items to reorder them and check them off when done. Simple.
This latest update brings the ability to create multiple lists (e.g. to separate Personal and Work tasks), speedy back-to-back iPhone task creation (e.g. to quickly create a grocery list), and more efficient keyboard navigation on the Mac version.
The update thankfully sticks to the app’s KISS principles but brings features that most users are bound to expect from their one-and-only to do list.
Dropkick is available as a free trial from dropkickapp.com. Upgrading to the full version is a $1.99 in-app purchase for the iPhone version and $4.99 for the Mac version. The application is compatible with iOS 3.0 or later and Macs running OS X 10.5 or 10.6. The Mac version is also available from the Mac App Store where 10.6.6 is required, although a free trial is not available there.
For our readers, Dropkick has created a discount code, THENEXTWEB, that will give you 50% off the Mac version through March 10th. Since the Mac App Store doesn’t allow discounts, the code will only work for the version that’s available on the Dropkick website.
