Neilsen: Actually, 91% of iPad users (not two thirds) HAVE downloaded apps

Remember yesterday when the web was awash with news about “One third of iPad owners haven’t downloaded a single app”? We said that “we’re a little suspicious of this stat, we’d expect it’s much closer to 100%” – well, Neilsen, which was behind the report everyone was quoting, has changed their findings from the previous 63% to a much more believable 91%.

The thinking of many yesterday was that more than one third of iPad owners – which Neilsen itself said are mostly higher educated, often wealthy, early adopters – just didn’t know about the App Store. That argument made absolutely no sense whatsoever to us yesterday, and we’re glad that Neilsen has set the record straight.

If you own an iPad, we’re guessing that you were probably pretty skeptical of that earlier number too. Oh, and by the way, either number is based on just 400 iPad owners according to PC Magazine’s article yesterday.
