Mate, Twitter is a marketing medium for anyone who uses it – portraying yourself as knowledgeable or concerned in a given area – most tweets about the iPad were people portraying themselves as cool and in the know. It doesn't provide content. Stop being so sanctimonious about it.
TNW are excited about a new product and want to promote the excitement whilst building their brand – so what? If you don't like it – filter it out and stick to reading about worthy idealistic crap from a world that only exists in your head.

I started following TNW on Twitter & Facebook because of this. I say that added value to my feed. Been reading via RSS. Just never thought to add the other two mediums.

I am the Project Coordinator for the restoration of a 5 acre historical garden and it attached building at the University of Florida and I would truly love to be able to ue the ipad at work. I'm outside most of my day working with contractors, architects, landscape architects, my peers at UF, our volunteers, donors and clients. It would be fabulous to journey through the world of ipad and discover all the applications that would assist me in doing my job more efficiently and effectively – not to mention that it would be just plan FUN!
I'm doing a 75 hour a week job and getting paid for 24 hours a week so I volunteer much of my life to help this teaching and healing garden reach it's true potential.
I'm also a wife, mother, sister, friend and a Master Gardener; I know my life would be positively impacted by this magnificent tool.
For me as an iPhone developer it would be terrific to win this superb piece of alien technology. ;) In return you'll get all our recent and upcoming games for free. Deal? :D

I want an iPad because I am tired of wasting paper! I have been a process engineer for 25 years and I am solely responsible for the destruction of thousands of trees in order to take notes, jot drawings and dimensions etc. I have a collection of used up pads which I keep in an effort to use these notes as a reference documents when required. You can imagine what this paper database looks like by now. During this period that I will refer to simply as the “dark ages” I have experimented with numerous electronic devices many of which currently reside in my drawer of had to have items. Items like the original Palm (pre-color) PDA’s, the Palm III, and IIIc with the smartpad and the photo attachment which cost in excess of $600 dollars! From iPAQ’s to Smartphone’s to Tablet PC ‘s I have tried everything somehow I always find my way back to a paper legal pad where is this going to end! The invention of the iphone has helped in some ways; however due to mostly its size and current available software I still require the use of paper for quick concise detail level drawings. Then I saw the iPad I can see already that the size alone will enable me to quickly jot down notes and hopefully one of you super intelligent kids with write the application software to translate my pad notes into an electronic document that I can download to my PC and complete the details. My wife will tell you that I have a fascination with “shiny things” and maybe to some extent that is true. I am hoping that this new “shiny thing” will spend may years helping me collect usable data, build an accessible database and save a few trees in the process.

I have been checking out the Kindle and Sony's Reader and have been trying to make up my mind which one I might go with. I am a voracious reader and love to take books with me, but the weight can add up. This would be lovely for traveling. Have you all thought about the impact of using them for schools for middle school and up? Instead of carrying a ton of books around and using backpacks and luggage carriers, just download the appropriate books for each student and have them checked out to each as they would their textbooks. Also it is “greenwise” reducing immensely, over time, the amount of paper used for student books that will eventually find their way into the landfills. The update of materials in the texts will be much easier and cheaper for the public school systems. Maybe even afford a raise for teachers after the initial investments!!! LOL I am still looking to make up my mind and I don't know enough about all the features on this iPad yet, but I will.

My story is that Im a Married–Mother of 2 my husband is laid off as an Electrician and Im in college, now that my children are old enough to go to school all day. Im going to school to get my RN degree I already have my CNA. Right Now Im using an older style Dell PC,its definitly served me well over the years but I think its (its-time-to-go-soon) Ill Miss It.
