C Spire Wireless has today announced that it will begin selling the iPhone 4S in all sizes as well as the iPhone 4 starting November 11th. This makes C Spire, formerly Cellular South, the only carrier other than AT&T to offer the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 in the US.
iPhone 4S will be available starting at $199.99 for the 16GB model, $299.99 for the 32GB model and $399.99 for the 64GB model with a new two-year contract and data plan. In addition, the iPhone 4 8GB model is available for $99.99, also with a new two-year contract and data plan. iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 will be available at C Spire Wireless retail stores, online at www.cspire.com/iPhone and through the Telesales group at 1-855-CSPIRE4. C Spire customers can pre-register for iPhone beginning today at www.cspire.com/iPhone.
C Spire hopes to differentiate itself with voice and data plans that appear to beat out Verizon, Sprint and AT&T. Note that the first two of these plans ‘exclude streaming’. C Spire describes this as a limit that prevents users from streaming ‘broadcasts’ in a billing period. It seems like Netflix and other streaming video providers might be covered under this provision so you might want to do some research before you jump on a plan like this.
The addition of C Spire brings the total number of carriers that the iPhone 4S is available on in the US to 4. Notably, T-Mobile still does not carry the device at all. C Spire carrying the iPhone may seem like an odd choice at first, but it is likely its coverage of key outlying urban areas of the southern US that makes it a good bet for Apple.
