If a picture tells a thousand words, a video probably tells.. ten thousand? Videos certainly give a better sense of an event than a single frame – the only problem is that they’re so much more hassle. GLMPS is a new iPhone app which launches today, aiming to solve that problem.
Every time you take a photo with GLMPS it will also capture a video of the five seconds up to it. It’s as a simple as that. While that not sound like much, in many circumstances, you may well end up with a video that captures a natural flavor of the scene in addition to a photo which is added to your camera roll and can be used as normal.
Once recorded, videos are uploaded to the cloud where you can view them from the GLMPS website or embed them on other pages (see two examples below). In the initial release, sharing from the app to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Foursquare is supported.
For the future, GLMPS says that it has been working with Foursquare to provide the ability to display GLMPS videos on Foursquare’s own site, which will be an interesting development if it bears fruit. The ability to share to more third-party services will be added in the future, along with support for a wider range of mobile OSes.
GLMPS is available now on the App Store to download and use for free.
