Apple bringing volume purchasing for businesses to App Store

Apple bringing volume purchasing for businesses to App Store

Apple has announced that it is introducing volume purchasing for businesses to the App Store “soon” according to a new volume purchasing page on the Apple site.

For businesses who have had trouble purchasing apps for many employees, this is sure to be a relief. There will be no volume requirements for purchases, either — it seems that businesses will be able to buy five copies or thousands through the volume purchasing feature.

Employees can then be given redemption codes to install the application on their device.

Apple is also introducing a means for the distribution of custom B2B apps. The distribution of custom software for iOS has always been a bit awkward in its current form, but devices like the iPad have a great deal of potential for applications in situations such as point-of-sale.
