The licensing saga between The Beatles and Apple, which restricts the sale of their albums through the iTunes store, may be ongoing but you can now get the legendary band onto you iPods and iPhones in a different way.
MusicSkins has announced a worldwide licensing deal to market personal device skins featuring many of the The Beatles’ most iconic images.
The company, which already supplies vinyl skin products for iPods, cellphones and netbooks has been granted the rights to feature The Beatles logo and artwork from seven of their albums including ‘Abbey Road’ and ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
The vinyl skins are available to order for various models of iPod and iPhone, as well as for the Blackberry range plus other leading smartphones including those from Nokia, LG, HTC and Motorola. There’s even a With The Beatles skin for the Macbook Pro, reports FT.com.
MusicSkins Executive Vice President, Jed Seifert, says of The Beatles deal “We couldn’t be more excited about offering skins that showcase the Beatles logo and the iconic cover art from some of the most important albums that helped shape the whole rock music genre.”

What is the big deal with Beatles on iTunes anyway? I don’t get it. If you want them, just buy used CDs on Amazon and then rip the things lossless (or mp4 if you prefer). Christ!
You can buy the entire Beatles catalog on a USB flash drive. With no DRM. Includes artwork. Try beatles.fanfire.com.
Well, they’ve just released an app on the app store (Little Black Songbook) which i believe is the first official licensed Beatles material to appear on iTunes. Maybe this is a pre-cursor to getting their catalogue on there. But yeah, as the two posts said before – copy your CDs and sync!
