Boxee, the popular media center application, is now in public beta following an extensive pre-beta period.

The new release comes for OS X, Windows, and Ubuntu. Boxee is also releasing a 64 bit Ubuntu version. The company promises that it will work to be prepared to finish a  full 1.0 release for next years CES, in 2011.

In addition to releasing the first full beta of the application, the company is announcing several new content partnerships. New partners include TV.com, Blip. tv, gaming powerhouse IGN, and the upcoming film The Wolfman.

Blip, IGN, and The Wolfman are all available as individual applications for Boxee. TV.com content will be in the Boxee Beta TV menu. From the companies blog post: “We’ll be working over the coming months to give Boxee users access to great TV.com content on popular shows like Family Guy, Heroes, NCIS, South Park, House, and How I Met Your Mother. Boxee has captured attention recently with its innovative interface, and ever expanding content. People enjoy using Boxee both on their computer monitors, and their televisions. Boxee is still working on their set top box.
