I’ve got to be honest. Despite this being an Apple upgrade to a windows mobile feature, it’s something that I would genuinely love to see incorporated into the iPhone.
Fortunately for me, I’m not alone and the team at teehan+lax have put together some gorgeous design mock ups to illustrate what they hope to see the iPhone home screen become.
“You can see from the screens it’s essentially just a scrollable list of applications and notifications. We envision it behaving in much the same way that the list view does in the Calendar application. By default it may track things like missed calls, unread emails and calendar events. But what if users could allow other apps to feed into this screen as well? If I’m a Facebook junkie I’d be able to tell the Facebook app to include certain feeds on my home screen. If I was a frequent traveler I may include the Tripit app to show me my upcoming trips. The options would only be limited by what apps you have installed.”
What’s interesting is that it appears as though Apple has already filed patents to create a similar idea, whether we’ll see either of these two (here and here) concepts come to fruition, time will tell.

To be honest, I like this new one better than the one iPhone has presently. Pretty impressive
This is great, but even better would be to have live inet feeds on the desktop, ala Android/Nokia…
Agreed!! It looks like a PCPhone, yuck!
I don’t agree. This looks like the failed Nokia homescreens.
The numbered ‘new’ emblems communicate enough that you need to few what you’ve missed or have new messages, missed calls.
I don’t want the extra click/push to get to the launch of apps.
This looks just perfect to me. I’ve been a huge iPhone fan ever since they were first released in the UK but there are things about the interface that get in the way of total productivity and the home screen is one.
Hopefully this will get somebody onto solving the problem.
I can’t wait.
how you will be able to browse all the other applications ?? right now you just scroll the page.
But still, i find this new version way more fancy and elegant.
Hope apple will bring it soon.
This would be perfect if Apple could squeeze an update like this in before the holidays. It would put the iPhone usability factor (which is already pretty good) at an all-time high for sure. Uncle Steve, what say you?
agree!
i totally want to have it like that.
Rob
That’s pretty fucking nice. I’d consider buying one of it looked half as nice as this.
I agree with Stefan Fountain. Is you want this you can hack away with a jailbreak, it currently can look like this:

Yup, always wanted something like this for the iphone!
I’d love to have this!
I definitely want this homescreen. I’ve been using my iPhone 3G for a year now and I’m actually considering a change to Motorola’s new Cliq phone for its quirky interface focused around quick social media updates. If iPhone can open itself up to be modded in this way, then really there isn’t any need to consider any other phones already!
definately would love to see! :)
Personally I think that this would make for a better lock screen. The idea that I can glance at my phone and see a lit of recent notifications is a lot more useful when I don’t have to slide to unlock. I know there is an app that can do this, but it’s only available to jailbreakers.
I’m glad its finally getting some attention that the iPhone home screen is not what it should be. The dev company TapFactory Apps has attempted their solution to this, which is only partially realized because of Apple’s SDK restrictions. The app Stick It is available in the App Store: http://bit.ly/wYWEN
I really like the layout, pretty slick. I think the addition of location-based information from the GPS would really add to it.
It does look Nokia N97 with widgets around the homescreen. Copyright???? Just curious!
I would LOVE to have this on my iphone…..
i have been scouring the internet to find something like this
this feature, to see info on the lock-screen (calendar, mail, weather, etc.), is a basic feature on a LOT of phones and tablets
i am not an apple fanatic, but i have an iphone and i like using it, and i would Really like to have this feature
i don’t understand why this has not been enabled on iphones after 4 bloody generations and countless more software updates
there are ways to get something like what is pictured, but they all require you to jailbreak and download (and possibly pay for) an app in “cydia”
- i don’t want to do that
to those who complain about the frickin “look” being spoiled – are you kidding me you jackasses? you want to restrict me and a few other thousand from using this feature, just purely based on issues of aesthetic? ignore considering that this feature may be of optional use (turn it on or off whenever), are you just retarded in wanting to move technology forward?
your bloc of steve-job-worshippers is what makes me itch so bad to go get an android or windows phone – not for any lack or gain of features, but be rid of association from you morons
I agree with Zee.. So what if it is windows mobile like. It is the best feature of windows mobile and there is nothing wrong in adopting it.
