Check out this Infographic installation made by designer Kevin C. Kwok. It shows the most expensive domain names ever purchased compared to their average unique monthly visitors.
The size of the circles show how much was paid and the position on the graph shows its monthly visitors with different colors for different categories. The categories are education, news, porn, retail, food, entertainment and ‘other’.
The designer took all this publicly available data from alexa.com, soldnames.com and compete.com and used it to design a beautiful infograph.
Site seems to be launching later (was offline earlier today and shows a ‘Check back later’ message now) but we do have a movie showing the whole thing:

That was a great graphic and funny presentation. Sex.com cost 14 mil and has such low traffic. I guess sex doesn’t always sell.
Most of the sold domain names are dot com. But there is few “not .com” domain names which break the record, for example bank.ht was sold for USD 1.4 million, inn.im for USD 1.8 million and motorcycle.se for USD 1.1 million
I chose one domain along with webhosting plan for the business purpose on 1stchoicewebsolution.com because they serve the best service at cheap prices. My suggestion for you is to try it once.
