Twitter OAuth Support Now In Public Beta

It’s been a long time coming, but finally Twitter has released OAuth support to Twitter developers worldwide. Alex Payne, Twitter’s API lead just announced the news via, you guessed it, Twitter.

A few select developers were given access to the private beta over the last month and it looks like Twitter’s ready to unleash it, albeit in beta, to the rest of Twitters many third party developers.

The beauty of OAuth, although by no means perfect, lies in it’s mechanism to allow third party developers to get access to twitter without their users having to hand over their twitter usernames and passwords.
