During a recent presentation, Fred Wilson, a VC with (one of Twitter’s investors) Union Square Ventures, posted an image of what appears to be integrated search in Twitter.

The image was made available via Wilson’s presentation (below) and reveals the search normally found at search.twitter.com fully integrated into the standard twitter UI. You can also see a “matching users” to the top right, presumably users who have parts of their bio matching whatever was searched for. As well as the much discussed “featured user” section in the center of the sidebar – possibly the beginning of Twitter’s plan to make a little money.

To me it would make a lot of sense if twitter would load ads in the results of a search query. Similar like Google does, depending on your search query they can show relevant ads. Twitter could go a step further as they know where somebody is based, which people he/she follows, etc.
Charging money for showing featured users? What a great idea! ;-). Where have I seen that before?
I spot this last week and they have also Trends.
