iPhone and iPods are Banned at the Bill Gates Household

iPhone and iPods are Banned at the Bill Gates HouseholdIt appears all electronic gadgets beginning with “i” are banned from the Gates’ household.

According to an interview with Vogue, wife of the computing mogul, Melinda Gates, is quoted as saying:

There are very few things that are on the banned list in our household. But iPods and iPhones are two things we don’t get for our kids.

You can just imagine them sat round the table on MacWorld day when iPod’s and iPhones are given their updates, refusing to mention “those updates to those products from that company named after a fruit who likes to name their products with an i prefix”

Mrs Gates does occasionally find herself slapping herself on the wrist:

Every now and then I look at my friends and say ‘Ooh, I wouldn’t mind having that iPhone’

She’s only human after all…

  • It sure sounds a bit childish. Do you think Steve Jobs would mind if one of his kids wanted a Dell to play games? I wonder...
  • It's not childish...i never read other blogs, only this one.

    Non-news and non-reporting.
Off course mr. Gates says he doesn't allow his family to use such products. Can you already imagine the headlines?
"Bill's wife cheats on him with iPod".
I'm quite sure mr. Jobs has a similar media-policy for his family.
  • Bill Gates once complained bitterly that Apple had stitched up the portable media player market with just the one product (a few years before video capabilities).

Again, he cited the lack of choice being bad and a profound danger to the public.

Steve Jobs replied in characteristically glib and dismissive style by saying: "People have a choice. Bill just doesn't like the choice people are making."
  • It's okay, Melinda, you're married - not dead. I think I can suggest the perfect compromise though. Bill stays happy and you can "sow your wild oats", so to speak.

It's called the Blackberry Storm, RIMs answer to the iPhone and frankly, far superior to said i-predicated device from the other company named after a fruit. Look into it, and you can thank me later.

    Warmest regards,

    Danielle
  • "Sow your wild outs" LOL :)
  • Well I guess that is like my aunt owns a couple of Popeyes, and they never go to KFC. It would be kind of strange.
  • LOL!!
  • Not really all that surprising guys. Ballmer only allows Live search on his computers (it must suck to do a web search for his kids :P)

But yea, if you're making a product but your family uses the competition's product, that just says your product stinks.

Michael Dell (and family) only use Dell computers. Bill Gates (and family) only use Microsoft products. And Steve Jobs (and family) only use Apple products.

    Only makes sense :)
